Baked Oatmeal Recipe in a Jar
This recipe fills one quart glass jar.
This is a wonderful recipe to keep on hand for holiday breakfasts since it is made the evening before and just popped in the oven in the morning. It is an excellent recipe and served with fruit becomes a very wholesome breakfast. And of course anyone you gift a jar of this baked oatmeal to will certainly appreciate it!

Baked Oatmeal in a Jar
Packing food in jars
is addicting so beware! And it is such a unique gift for the holidays; everyone on your list will love them.
A filled jar like this baked oatmeal is also an excellent item to keep on hand for cold winter weekends. Just store it in a pantry or other cool, dark and dry area and the shelf life should be about 6 months. Always be sure to begin with fresh ingredients to maintain a long shelf life.

Ingredients
3 cups quick cooking oats 1 tablespoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 3/4 cup white sugar |
Directions
Put the oats in a quart jar and pack. In a small bowl, mix together baking powder, salt, brown sugar and cinnamon. Add to jar as the next layer. Pour white sugar on top. Seal jar.
Baked Oatmeal
1/2 cup applesauce or vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 cup milk
Optional – 1/2 cup chopped almonds or walnuts, coconut, diced apples, raisins, blueberries, diced peaches or a can of fruit.
Combine applesauce or oil, eggs and milk; beat well. Add the contents of the jar and stir until well mixed. Add any of the optional ingredients above. Pour into a lightly greased 8” or 9” cake pan. Sprinkle cinnamon and brown sugar on top, if desired. Refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Bake for 35 minutes or until oatmeal is firm. Serve with milk.
