Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte Recipe
(with a little help from a Mason Jar!)
If you are like me, you can't wait for the holidays to arrive so all the seasonal coffees will magically appear. But the 380 calories in the pumpkin spice latte of my local coffee shoppe
is not so appealing.
So here is a variety
you can make at home. Not only is it cheaper but has less calories. And you can spice it up or down as much as you want!
Recipe for Pumpkin Spice Latte
Since I make one of these lattes every day in the fall, I mix up a small batch of the honey and spices to keep on hand. That way I can make my latte practically with my eyes still closed.
I actually use less of the honey mixture when
I have it mixed and ready to go. About a teaspoon of the mixture works well for me.

Ingredients
1 cup of hot, extra strong brewed coffee (if using a Keurig coffee maker, brew on the 2nd level choice) 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice dash of cinnamon 1 tablespoon honey 2% milk (or whole milk) - 1/3 to 2/3 cup 8 oz. Mason jar |
Directions
Mix the honey, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon together in a small bowl until well mixed. Brew 1 cup of strong coffee. Pour coffee into a coffee cup (only fill a coffee cup 3/4 full) and stir in the honey mixture until the honey is melted. Set aside.
Add milk to an 8 oz. Mason jar. (about 1/3 full) Put lid on jar and shake vigorously for one minute. Remove lid and microwave milk in jar on HIGH for 45 seconds. It should create a nice foam while heating. With a spoon, hold the foam back and pour desired amount of milk into coffee. Add fom on top and sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
Yield: 1 latte.
Variation - Mocha Coffee
To make this coffee more chocolately, a tablespoon of cocoa powder can be added. Also a few drops of vanilla can be added, if you like that flavor.
1 cup of hot, extra strong brewed coffee (if using a Keurig coffee maker, brew on the 2nd level choice)
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cocoa powder
(unsweetened)
2% milk (or whole milk) - 1/3 to 2/3 cup
Mix the sugar and cocoa powder together in a small bowl. Brew 1 cup of strong coffee. Pour coffee into a coffee cup (only fill a coffee cup 3/4 full) and whisk the sugar mixture into the hot coffee.
Add foam on top.
